Happy sunny Sunday to all you beautiful Galwegians! The skies are blue and the vibes are good as we ease ourselves into another day of music in Galway. As usual there are loads of gigs going on across the day. Here are just some of them for your perusal:

4:30pm is the start time for the infamous The Salthouse Bar Sunday Music Session which takes place on Raven Terrace and features some of the most melodious musicians in the county doing their thing in front of the fire to get your Sunday session started. Carroll’s on Dominick Street have their Trad session kicking off at around 5pm. Sin a Deir Sí take to the stage downstairs in
Monroe’s Galway at around 6pm. Richie Brennan and the members of the Vibe Tribe bring some old-school Rock and Blues to E-Bruns Bar from 6:30pm.

Pa Sheil and Fergal Mcdonagh take their acoustic show to the stage in the Quays Bar-Galway at 7pm. Szymon Misniak is back in Il Vicolo from around 7:30pm bringing you the finest in Sunday Jazz at the Mill. Open Mic Night at Róisín Dubh opens doors upstairs at around 8pm so get in early as space fill up fast!

Mouse Mchugh takes to the stage downstairs in Monroes at around 8:30pm. Greg Cotter and Mary Flanagan continue to run one of the friendliest sessions in the county in The Crane Bar from around 9pm. You can catch the dulcet tones of Jade Reynolds and the gentlemen of The Rollover in Massimo Bar Galway from around 9:15pm. Half Mile Down take to the stage in Taylor’s Bar & Beer Garden at around 9:30pm.

If you happen to be across the river then be sure to drop into Tigh Neachtain Galway and sample the rafter-swinging delights of Ska heavyweights Big Jelly from around 9:30pm. The effervescent Turlock Holmes is back on stage in the Quays Bar-Galway at 10pm with the super tight Pyramid.Karl Clews and the Superfreaks kick off proceedings in the Dail Bar at around 10:30pm and we hit the stage in the Roisin Dubh at 12 mid-night!

After another week spent adjusting to climate and time changes we are primed to make some serious noise in the back room of the Roisin tonight! Joining me for kicks and giggles I’m delighted to have to following melody makers… Bushkanga Rilla on drums. Eoin Mccann on bass. Mark Sullivan on vocals and guitar. Bertrand Huvé on sax. Danny Healy on trumpet. Gabo GD on flutes and whistles. Eanna Ryder on keys and Barbara Vulso on vocals.

Well there you have it folks, it’s another jam packed day of ceoil in Galway and as always if you guys make it to the end of the night we would only love to have the pleasure of your company in the back room of the Roisin Dubh where we will be doing our best to keep Monday at bay for as long as possible 😉

(p.s. if you bring your Mom she get’s in for free!)
