Happy sunny Sunday to all you beautiful and culture filled Galwegians. There’s a chill in the air today but the home fires are burning and the smell of the turf smoke is full of promise. As usual the musical community of Galway is on hand to help you live your Sunday like you mean it Here are just some of the events taking place today…
The Salt House kicks off proceedings at 4:30pm with music from super talented Noelie McDonnell, Nicola Joyce and Kelvin Busher. Gentle harmonies by the fire side, where else would you be! Richie Brennan and the Vibe Tribe will be putting their own slant on some old school Rock and Blues in E-Bruns bar from 6pm. The Barnyard Trio featuring Mark McConville and Aidan Curran perform their Sunday residency in Garavans Bar from 6:30pm.
At 7pm you can catch a little Jazz in the Mill at Il Vicolo with Szymon Misniak bringing the finest in visiting talent. Monroe’s Galway plays host to Tuam legend Mouse McHugh downstairs from 8pm. Open Mic Night at Róisín Dubh continues to provide a nebulous space for all of Galways emerging talent. Curated by the saintly Steven Sharpe and Trass Bee this event is hugely popular and spaces fill up quickly so get in early! Doors 8:30pm.
Greg Cotter and Mary Flanagan continue their much loved Country/Folk session in the Crane Bar from 9pm. Jade Reynolds, James Dillon and the members of The Rollover will be playing all your favourites in Massimo Bar Galway from 9:30pm.
If you happen to be across the river be sure to drop into Tigh Neachtainand wish multi-instrumentalist Tom Portman a very happy birthday! Tom will be kicking things off with his trio from 9:30pm. Turlock“Xiào Fó”Holmes and his pyramidal companions take to the stage in the Quays Bar Galway at 10:15pm. Killer bass player Karl Clews will be displaying his considerable chops in the Dail Bar from 10:30pm and we will be hitting the stage in the Rosin Dubh at 12 midnight!
