Galway’s live music guide: Sunday 5th August

Happy Sunday to all you beautiful Galwegians!! It’s another glorious day in G-town as we bid farewell to all the equine fanatics and prepare for the inevitable indian-summer that is just around the corner  To celebrate this fact and so many other things, the musical community of Galway is on hand to provide the sound track to the end of your week! Here are just some of the gigs taking place today:

You can catch the soothing sounds of Noriana Kennedy and her musical friends at the early session in the Salt House from 4:30pm. The Vibe Tribe featuring Richie Brennan will be bringing some old school rock and blues to E-Bruns from around 6:30pm. Jazz at the Mill continues from 7ish in Il Vicolo with Szymon Misniak running the show. The second Salt Housesession gets going at around 7:30pm and features some of the Galway Street Club doing their thing!
Open Mic Night at Róisín Dubh will get going upstairs at around 8pm where the legendary Steven Sharpe and Trass Bee will be providing all that is required to get your new songs heard! Monroe’s Galway have the venerable Mouse McHugh playing downstairs from 8:30pm. The Crane Bar hosts the friendliest session in the county skilfully curated by Greg Cotter and Mary Flanagan at 9:30pm.

If you happen to be across the river then be sure to drop into Tigh Neachtain and check out what’s going on in the musicians corner from around 9:30pm. Turlock Holmes and the men from Pyramid will be banging out the tunes in the Quays Bar Galway from around 10:15pm. You can catch Bass virtuoso Karl Clews performing with his band in the Dail Bar from 10:30pm and we will be hitting the stage in the Róisín Dubh at 12 midnight! 😎

We missed yee all last week and we’re super excited to get back to the serious business of getting our groove on with all you lovely people. Joining me tonight to make some noises… Barbara Vulso on vocals. Mark Sullivan on vocals and “the beast” Eoin Mccann on bass. Maciek Zaworonek on harmonica. Bertrand Huvé on saxophone. Bushkanga Rilla on drums and Gabo GD on flutes.

So there you have it folks. Another jam-packed day of music in Galway and if you make it to the end of the night we’d only be delighted to have the pleasure of your company in the back room of the Róisín Dubh where we will be doing our best to ring in the bank holiday with a bang!

There will be singing.
There will be dancing.
